This season, Hoffman has struggled significantly, recording a 7.59 ERA with three saves in six opportunities. His recent performance included a blown save in a crucial moment during the 2025 World Series, where he allowed a game-tying home run to Miguel Rojas of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Following that emotional loss, Hoffman expressed regret, stating, 'I've cost everybody in here a World Series ring.' In a recent game against the Los Angeles Angels, Hoffman started the ninth inning but was replaced after allowing four consecutive batters to reach base. The Blue Jays are now considering Louis Varland and sidearming right-hander Tyler Rogers as potential replacements for the closer role. Hoffman, who signed a $33 million contract with Toronto in January 2025, was previously an All-Star with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2024 and was drafted ninth overall by the Blue Jays in 2014 before being traded to the Colorado Rockies.
