The second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections is set to take place on Wednesday, covering eight districts in South Bengal. With 41,001 polling stations established, authorities have implemented extensive security measures, deploying nearly 2,400 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure voter safety and maintain law and order. Special Electoral Roll Observer Subrata Gupta expressed confidence in the preparations, stating that all systems are in place for smooth voting. Each polling booth will be manned by four security personnel, and select contingents will use body cameras for monitoring. Additionally, webcams have been installed at polling stations to oversee the voting process. Gupta encouraged voters to participate in large numbers, aiming to surpass the 93% turnout achieved in the first phase. Revisions to the electoral roll have included six deletions and 1,468 additions, allowing newly registered voters to cast their ballots. A toll-free helpline has been activated to address voter complaints promptly, ensuring a well-managed and peaceful election process.
