Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to create an action plan aimed at tackling the rising incidences of cyber and financial crimes in the state. During a review meeting, he highlighted the importance of a rapid fund recovery mechanism, particularly focusing on the 'golden hour' after a fraud complaint is made. Naidu emphasized the necessity for technological innovations in fund recovery systems and urged the adoption of advanced tools to detect and prevent financial fraud, including the misuse of mule bank accounts. The Chief Minister also directed banks to enhance monitoring of high-value transactions, particularly during weekends, and suggested regulatory changes with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The urgency for improved coordination among police, banking, and technology sectors was underscored, given the significant financial losses reported by victims, totaling approximately ₹652 crore. Officials noted that 9.29 lakh complaints had been lodged with the national cybercrime helpline, and the state's CID Cyber Crime wing successfully prevented over ₹116 crore from falling into the hands of cybercriminals. The establishment of cyber police stations in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati aims to bolster the state's response to these crimes.
