Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan changed his social media bio to reflect his position as a Polit Bureau Member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on the eve of vote counting for the Assembly elections. Vijayan is contesting for a historic third consecutive term in the Dharmadam constituency, a stronghold for the Left. In the previous elections of 2021, he won decisively, securing 95,522 votes (59.8%) against the United Democratic Front candidate. The upcoming election results, set for May 4, are highly anticipated, especially with exit polls indicating a competitive landscape where the United Democratic Front is projected to win between 78 to 90 seats out of 140. The elections took place on April 9, with a voter turnout of 78.27%. The results will also coincide with elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.
