C. Joseph Vijay is anticipated to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning at Chennaiβs Nehru Stadium. The ceremony will also see at least eight ministers from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government being sworn in, following the party's successful formation of a government with majority support in the Assembly. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has formally appointed Vijay and requested him to prove his majority by May 13. The TVK secured its majority after receiving support from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), bringing its alliance tally to 120 seats in the 234-member Assembly. The Congress party's backing is attributed to Vijay's longstanding relationship with Rahul Gandhi, which has evolved since their first meeting in 2009. The new cabinet is expected to include ministers overseeing various departments, including Public Administration and Home, Public Works, and School Education, among others. Outgoing Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will serve as a constructive opposition and will not hinder the new government's formation.
