The search for a new CEO of Air India has narrowed to two candidates: Vinod Kannan, currently a senior executive at Singapore Airlines, and Nipun Aggarwal, the airline's commercial head. This development follows the resignation of Campbell Wilson, who stepped down last month amid ongoing financial losses and increasing regulatory scrutiny. Tata Sons, which owns the majority stake in Air India, is currently discussing both candidates, although no final decision has been made yet. The airline is facing significant challenges, including operational disruptions linked to the Iran war and the ban on Indian flights over Pakistan, which has further complicated its financial situation. Kannan, who previously served as CEO of Vistara, has been with Singapore Airlines since 2001, while Aggarwal has been instrumental in Air India's transformation since Tata's takeover from the Indian government in January 2022. Both candidates have not publicly commented on their potential appointment.
