The Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC) has launched a new policy that rewards overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with additional points in civil service examinations. This initiative, effective from August 9, 2023, aims to acknowledge the contributions of OFWs by formally recognizing their overseas work experience as a factor in civil service eligibility. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least five years of overseas employment since January 1, 2000, and must achieve a general rating of at least 70 in the exam. The policy applies to all Filipinos working abroad, regardless of job type or salary level, thereby broadening the scope of eligible candidates. This new measure is expected to provide a clearer pathway for OFWs to transition into stable government careers back home, where civil service positions are highly valued for their job security and benefits. The CSC emphasized that this initiative honors the professionalism and sacrifices of OFWs, allowing them to continue serving the nation.
