In a move to alleviate traffic congestion in north-west Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the Railways' approval of two significant road projects. The first involves widening the existing Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Haiderpur-Badli on the Outer Ring Road, while the second is the construction of an elevated loop connecting Shalimar Bagh with Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. These projects aim to address severe traffic bottlenecks at Mukarba Chowk and improve connectivity along one of Delhi's busiest transport corridors. Gupta emphasized that the Public Works Department (PWD) submitted technical proposals that were found feasible by the Railways, leading to the issuance of in-principle no-objection certificates (NOCs). The Railways has mandated that construction adhere to strict safety standards to avoid disruption to railway operations. Gupta acknowledged the support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the government in enhancing infrastructure and transport in the capital.
