During the counting of votes for the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, 47 excess votes were discovered in a sealed ballot box from Tirupur district, sparking protests from local lawyers. They gathered near the Madras High Court, demanding an investigation and a re-poll in Tirupur, insisting that the counting of votes from the district be paused until the issue is resolved. Three candidates — G Mohanakrishnan, Ashok, and D Saravanan — have formally requested the High-Power Election Committee, led by former Chief Justice Rajiv Shakdher, to look into the matter. However, the returning officer, Justice K N Basha, clarified that the excess votes resulted from a small error where duplicate unused ballot papers were mistakenly included.
