In Bengaluru, India, two women have tragically died by suicide, allegedly due to dowry harassment. Vandana, 23, was found dead in her home in the Hulimavu area on Friday night. She had been married to Vikram Shesha for three years and is survived by a three-month-old child. Following her death, her family filed a complaint leading to a case being registered against her husband and in-laws for dowry harassment. In a separate incident, A. Bhuvaneshwari, 29, was discovered hanging at her residence in JP Nagar after her mother and neighbors became concerned when she did not respond to calls. Bhuvaneshwari's father, T. Anbalagan, accused her husband, Harish Kumar, along with his family, of continuous harassment over dowry demands, despite the couple having married in November 2022. The complaint detailed a history of mental and physical abuse, leading to Bhuvaneshwari's depression and counseling. After being sent back to her parental home in October 2025, her husband allegedly distanced himself and pressured her for an annulment. Both cases underscore the severe social issue of dowry-related violence in India.
