In a significant archaeological discovery, researchers from the Archaeological Center Olomouc (ACO) have found over 1,000 artifacts along a three-quarter-mile stretch designated for a high-speed railway between Nezamyslice and Kojetín in the Czech Republic. Excavations, conducted from April to October 2025, revealed artifacts ranging from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman era. Notably, remains from the Věteřov and Urnfield cultures were identified, with evidence of the Iron Age La Tène culture also present. Among the findings are two graves from the Věteřov culture, including one containing both an adult and a child. A specialized bronze-working workshop was also uncovered, featuring crucible fragments and stone molds for crafting bronze items, along with a collection of bronze artifacts such as axes and a bracelet. The most remarkable find is a Roman drawplate, a tool used for thinning metal wire, which is considered rare in Central Europe. The artifacts will undergo further analysis and preservation, with findings expected to be published gradually.
