The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has greenlit the relocation of residents from three slum clusters—Bhai Ram Camp, Masjid Camp, and DID Camp—located near Race Course Road, close to the Prime Minister's residence in New Delhi. DUSIB is seeking ₹84.9 crore (approximately $10.2 million USD) from the central government to support this rehabilitation effort. A total of 717 flats in Savda Ghewra, North Delhi, will be allocated to the displaced residents, with the central government also contributing ₹1,12,000 (around $1,350 USD) per dweller. This decision follows notices issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for the residents to vacate the land, which is government property. The residents had initially challenged this in the Delhi High Court, but the Centre assured rehabilitation on March 11. A joint survey conducted by MoHUA and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in January 2024 identified eligible residents for the new housing, leading to the finalization of the Savda Ghewra allotments.
