In a significant event held in Delhi, ten women journalists from Uttar Pradesh launched their collective memoir, 'The Good Reporter', also translated into Hindi as 'Badi Aayi Patrakar'. This memoir, marking 25 years of Khabar Lahariya, a pioneering feminist media institution, encapsulates the personal and professional struggles of women journalists in a male-dominated field. Geeta Devi, one of the co-authors, emphasized that the stories shared in the book reflect their lived experiences and battles. The writing process was described as an emotional journey, with co-author Suneeta Prajapati noting, 'We cried, we laughed, and we held hands.' Publisher Urvashi Butalia highlighted the historical significance of the memoir, stating that it represents a societal change that has allowed such narratives to emerge. The book serves as a call for ongoing support to maintain the human essence of journalism in an era increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.
