A special court in Thane has remanded Zaib Ansari, a 31-year-old man, to judicial custody for two weeks following his arrest for a 'lone wolf' attack in Mira Road, Maharashtra. Ansari allegedly attempted to murder two security guards at an under-construction building after questioning their religion. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken over the investigation, citing potential links to the terrorist organization ISIS. During a search of his home, authorities found a note indicating radical intentions, including a message threatening 'mushrikeen' (polytheists) with jihad in India. Ansari's lawyer, Wahab Khan, argued that his client suffers from schizophrenia and requested a medical assessment while in custody. The court has agreed to seek a report from jail authorities regarding his health. The ATS has also expressed interest in investigating whether Ansari had radicalized any individuals through online classes he taught to students in the UAE.
