Under the new rules, all private unaided recognized schools in Delhi must allow parents to purchase items from any vendor as long as they meet prescribed standards. Schools are also barred from frequently changing uniform designs and entering exclusive agreements with vendors. To ensure accountability, schools must publish a complete list of required materials on their websites and notice boards, along with details of at least five nearby vendors. Parents now have the freedom to choose where to buy school-related items, promoting fair pricing and greater control over their expenses. Complaints against non-compliant schools can be submitted to district and zonal education authorities. This directive is enforced under the Delhi School Education Act and the Right to Education Rules, with strict penalties for violations, marking a significant step towards a more equitable education system in Delhi.
