The Pune Metro Rail Corporation, led by managing director Shravan Hardikar, has reported significant advancements in the Pune Metro project. Phase 2 expansion includes the Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor (11.10 km) and Hadapsar–Saswad Road corridors, with a major long-distance corridor connecting Bhakti Shakti to Chakan, covering 45.29 km and costing ₹12,937 crore (approximately $1.56 billion USD). The Phase 1 network has successfully become fully operational, achieving a milestone of over 10 crore riders. As part of Phase 2, Line 4 (Kharadi–Khadakwasla) and Spur Line 4A (Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug) will enhance connectivity with a total of 28 stations at a cost of ₹9,857.85 crore (approximately $1.19 billion USD). The project includes ongoing preparations for additional corridors, such as metro access to Pune Airport and connections to key urban areas. Hardikar emphasized that these expansions are essential for accommodating the city's rapid growth and improving urban mobility.
