Saudi Arabia and Qatar have assured Pakistan of $5 billion in financial support to help stabilize the country's weak foreign reserves, particularly as it faces a $3.5 billion repayment to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of April. This commitment was discussed during a meeting between Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on economic cooperation amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Although no formal agreements were signed, the discussions highlight ongoing concerns over Pakistan's external financial position, which is under pressure from increasing import costs. Without new financial inflows or rollover arrangements, Pakistan's foreign reserves could drop to approximately $11.5 billion, raising concerns about liquidity and external stability. Additionally, Pakistani senator Mushahid Hussain recently made controversial remarks about the UAE's financial support, reflecting the complex dynamics in the region.
