India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, has categorically rejected China's attempts to assign new names to territories in the Aksai Chin region and Arunachal Pradesh, calling these efforts 'mischievous' and 'baseless.' Jaiswal emphasized that such actions detract from the ongoing efforts to stabilize and normalize bilateral relations between India and China, which have been strained since a military standoff began in 2020. He reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh and other territories are integral parts of India, regardless of China's claims. China's recent moves include the establishment of a new county, Cenling, in the Aksai Chin region and renaming 23 locations in Arunachal Pradesh, which India views as attempts to bolster its territorial claims. Historically, India has rejected similar renaming initiatives by China, asserting that they do not change the reality of Indian sovereignty over these areas. The situation remains delicate as both nations work towards resolving their long-standing border disputes.
