On Monday, Manipur police arrested two militants and a police officer, Elangbam Surjit, along with another individual, Maibam Ronaldo, in Kamjong district near the Indo-Myanmar border. The operation led to the recovery of a service pistol, ten 9mm ammunition, and various explosives, including 16 mortar shells and two AK-47 rifles. Both Surjit and Ronaldo are reportedly associated with the Kangleipak Communist Party (Ibungo Ngangom) faction. In a related operation, police in Assam arrested a cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) linked to extortion activities. Security forces have intensified search operations across vulnerable districts, successfully seizing additional arms and ammunition. Officials have stated that similar operations will continue to address the law and order situation in the region, which has remained stable over the past 24 hours.
