The Indian government has sanctioned a ₹132.51 crore road over bridge (ROB) project at the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla, Gujarat, to alleviate congestion and enhance cargo flow. This initiative is part of the broader Sagarmala Programme, which aims to promote port-led development and improve logistics integration through the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. The bridge will be constructed at level crossing LC-235 by Western Railway and is expected to address long-standing bottlenecks that hinder cargo movement, thereby improving operational efficiency at the port. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, emphasized that the project will create world-class port infrastructure, reinforcing India's position as a global maritime hub. The project was approved after a review by the Delegated Investment Board (DIB) to ensure compliance with updated safety standards. Once completed, the ROB is anticipated to facilitate uninterrupted port-bound traffic and strengthen India's maritime logistics chain, enhancing connectivity between various transport modes.
