The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has successfully recovered ₹251.72 crore from 129,948 defaulting consumers in Ludhiana and its surrounding areas between January and early April. This recovery drive spanned various circles, including east, west, sub-urban, and Khanna, with officials intensifying efforts against unpaid dues. The east circle emerged as the largest defaulter area, recovering ₹114.33 crore from 31,167 consumers, while the west circle followed with ₹72.81 crore from 23,163 defaulters. The sub-urban circle accounted for ₹39.42 crore from 44,167 accounts, and the Khanna circle contributed ₹25.16 crore from 31,451 defaulters. Individual divisions such as Focal Point, Model Town, Sunder Nagar, and the estate division reported significant recoveries as well. PSPCL's chief engineer for the central zone, Jagdev Singh Hans, noted that the improved response from consumers reflects the effectiveness of intensified enforcement measures. The focus will now shift towards habitual defaulters and areas with high outstanding dues, as PSPCL continues its recovery initiatives to alleviate the financial strain caused by non-payment culture.
