The Directorate of Civil Defence in Delhi conducted a full-scale mock drill on Thursday night, simulating a hostile air attack across 13 districts to assess the preparedness of disaster response agencies. The drill, outlined in a circular issued on March 27, included components such as air raid warnings, blackout protocols, and coordinated evacuation efforts. The exercise commenced at 8:10 PM at Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing in Lajpat Nagar, where approximately 250 students participated. During the drill, lights were turned off to simulate conditions during an attack, allowing agencies to practice their response strategies. A member of the medical team emphasized the importance of prioritizing care for severely injured individuals during such simulations. Participants, including student Farida Noora, reported receiving prior instructions on individual preparedness. The drill was supervised by district magistrates and civil defence controllers, who will compile reports for the Ministry of Home Affairs by April 3.
