Three hundred forty-eight Indians, mostly from Tamil Nadu, returned to Chennai after being stranded in Iran for over a month due to escalating conflict. The group included 327 Tamils, five individuals from Puducherry, and ten from Kerala, with many being fishermen from districts like Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, and Nagapattinam. They were received by Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran upon arrival. The returnees shared harrowing experiences of living in fear, with little hope for their safety until they landed back in India. Peter Blacian, a fisherman from Kanniyakumari, described the constant explosions nearby and the uncertainty they faced during their ordeal. Despite receiving some support from their employers for food, the returnees had to pay for their own transport to reach safety, making an 18-hour bus journey to Qom city, where the Indian embassy provided further assistance. Many expressed concerns about their future after returning home.
