Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan, the Congress candidate, filed his nomination for the upcoming by-election in the Umreth Assembly constituency of Anand district, Gujarat, scheduled for April 23. He was accompanied by prominent Congress leaders, including Bharat Solanki and Amit Chavda. Chavda emphasized Chauhan's extensive public service experience, having served three terms as President of the Umreth Taluka Panchayat. The by-election was prompted by the death of BJP MLA Govind Parmar, with the BJP fielding his son, Harshad Parmar, as their candidate. Chavda criticized the ruling BJP for alleged corruption and expressed hope that the Congress could reclaim power by addressing the constituency's development needs. The constituency has over 2.4 lakh registered voters and will utilize electronic voting machines with VVPAT systems across 300 booths. Results will be declared on May 4.
