The Indian government is launching an annual graduate tracer survey for all 1,000 industrial training institutes (ITIs) upgraded under the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM SETU) scheme. This survey will gather data on the employment outcomes of ITI graduates, helping to assess the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement. A senior government official stated that the initiative aims to enhance program performance and address existing bottlenecks. An independent monitoring agency will be established at both national and state levels to evaluate the performance of special purpose vehicles (SPVs) overseeing the ITIs. Key performance indicators will include increases in female and overall enrolments, verified placements, and trainer salaries. The government plans to publicly disclose the performance of states and clusters, promoting transparency and accountability in fund utilization and achievements.
