The Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) is set to launch an online system that will allow applications for medical assistance to be processed within eight hours. This initiative, announced by CMRF cell in-charge Rameshwar Naik, aims to provide quicker support to the economically weaker sections of society. Hospitals across Maharashtra will be directly linked to the CMRF, eliminating the need for patients to navigate multiple offices for assistance. The CMRF has been instrumental in aiding financially disadvantaged individuals, having provided financial support amounting to ₹333.60 crore (approximately $40 million USD) to 40,776 patients from April 2025 to March 2026. Eligible patients can receive up to ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000 USD) for major medical treatments, and the fund has expanded its coverage to include serious health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and organ transplants. This online system is expected to enhance the efficiency of the support provided to patients in need.
