On April 3, Jalandhar rural police successfully dismantled an illegal arms smuggling network, arresting Suraj Kumar (alias Ladi) after recovering five pistols during a vehicle check near Patara village in Jalandhar district, Punjab, India. Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk reported that Kumar, riding a motorcycle without a number plate, attempted to evade police but was apprehended. The recovered arms included three .32-bore pistols and two .315-country-made pistols. Preliminary investigations indicated that Kumar, along with an associate named Davinderpal Singh (alias Deepu), was sourcing illegal firearms from the Mathura region of Uttar Pradesh for distribution in Jalandhar and nearby areas. The police have registered a case under the Arms Act and are conducting further interrogations to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.
