Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on April 14, 2026, an ambitious project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Delhi and Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Built at an estimated cost of ₹12,000 crore (approximately $1.45 billion USD), this six-lane access-controlled corridor will shorten the travel distance from about 235 km to 210-213 km and reduce travel time from over 6 hours to approximately 2.5 hours. The expressway will start near Akshardham Temple in Delhi and end in Dehradun, passing through several towns in Uttar Pradesh. It will also connect to Haridwar and integrate with the Char Dham Highway, facilitating access to important pilgrimage sites.

The expressway features a 12-km elevated stretch through the ecologically sensitive Rajaji National Park, designed to minimize wildlife disruption with underpasses and crossings for animals. Toll charges are expected to be around ₹670 for a one-way trip, with the final rates to be confirmed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This infrastructure development is projected to boost tourism and economic activity in the region, making Dehradun a more attractive destination for both visitors and residents.
