The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced a significant investment of ₹21 crore (approximately $2.5 million USD) for the revamp of Sheetla Mata Road, aimed at easing congestion and enhancing pedestrian safety, particularly for visitors to the Sheetla Mata Temple. This project will cover a 3.5 km stretch from Atul Kataria Chowk to the Sector 3/5 roundabout (Bhagat Singh Chowk) and will involve comprehensive improvements, including road repairs, footpath reconstruction, streetscaping, and drainage system upgrades. GMDA officials highlighted that the road faces daily congestion, exacerbated by the influx of visitors during festive periods. To address these issues, the redesign will feature reconstructed drains for better water evacuation, improved footpaths, new streetlights, and designated entry and exit points on the main carriageway. Additionally, a foot overbridge is planned near the temple to manage heavy pedestrian movement. Separately, a 900-meter stretch from Bhagat Singh Chowk to Old Railway Road will also be revamped at a cost of ₹4.9 crore (about $590,000 USD), focusing on drainage reconstruction and road repairs.
