The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) has successfully relocated a historic Patton tank back to Bharat Nagar Chowk, spending ₹2.5 lakh (approximately $3,000 USD) for the 2.8 km journey from the Rose Garden. The tank, captured during the 1965 Indo-Pak war by Major Bhupinder Singh, was reinstated to its original location after nearly three decades. The operation, which took four hours, utilized three cranes and a trailer. The MC has allocated a total of ₹14.86 lakh (around $17,800 USD) for the entire project, which includes tiling and the development of the memorial site. This restoration follows persistent demands from local residents and the Public Action Committee (PAC), who sought to maintain the integrity of the war memorial amid other developments. Major Bhupinder Singh, who hailed from Harnampura village in Ludhiana, was recognized with the Maha Vir Chakra for his valor during the conflict. The chowk has recently been adopted for maintenance by Hero Cycles.
