Indian Railways has announced the approval of a Vande Bharat Sleeper train service connecting KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. This new service aims to address long-standing issues of slow travel and limited options between the two major cities. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the development, noting that the exact launch date, ticket fares, and operational details are still being finalized. The proposed route is expected to follow the existing Udyan Express corridor, with key stops including Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Guntakal. Currently, train journeys between these cities can take over 20 hours, while the new Vande Bharat Sleeper is anticipated to cut travel time to approximately 15-17 hours, offering a more comfortable overnight option with modern sleeper coaches. The Udyan Express will continue to operate alongside this new service, providing travelers with additional choices. The demand for faster and more comfortable travel options has been echoed by passengers and trade activists alike, highlighting the need for improvements in rail connectivity between these bustling urban centers.
