On Saturday, a helicopter carrying Chhagan Bhujbal (Maharashtra's Food and Civil Supplies Minister) landed in a parking lot instead of the designated helipad in Purandar, Pune. The incident occurred while Bhujbal was attending a program to celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, where a school built by the Zilla Parishad was to be inaugurated. Although the pilot reported a smooth landing and no injuries, authorities have flagged the incident for safety violations. Pune rural police confirmed that the helipad's coordinates were shared with the crew, but confusion led to the helicopter landing approximately 1 km away from the designated site. The incident will be reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for further investigation, and the pilot may face action for deviating from the approved landing plan. Nationalist Congress Party leader Rohit Pawar expressed serious concerns over aviation safety, emphasizing the need for caution among important individuals during travel, especially given past incidents involving aircraft safety.
