Chinese President Xi Jinping has unveiled a four-point peace proposal to enhance stability in West Asia, coinciding with the upcoming Iran-US talks. The proposal, presented during a meeting with Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE leader, stresses the need for peaceful coexistence among Middle Eastern nations and the respect for each other's sovereignty. It also highlights the importance of coordinating development and security policies to ensure that economic growth supports peace efforts. Xi emphasized that adherence to international law is crucial, warning against selective application of global rules, which he believes undermines the international system. This proposal emerges amid heightened geopolitical tensions, particularly as the US has recently imposed a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, prompting warnings from Beijing regarding interference in its relations with Iran. Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun reaffirmed China's commitment to its trade and energy ties with Tehran, indicating that Chinese vessels will continue operations in the region despite US actions.
