Dayal Singh Rawat, a 55-year-old manager at the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) gas agency in Champawat district, Uttarakhand, passed away shortly after returning home from work on Sunday evening. His colleagues claim he consumed a poisonous substance due to overwhelming work pressure, which they attribute to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. However, Rawat's family has rejected these claims, insisting that the cause of death will only be confirmed after the postmortem report. Following his death, several KMVN employees went on strike, disrupting cooking gas distribution across parts of the Kumaon region. Colleagues reported that Rawat had expressed feeling overwhelmed by work demands and pressure from consumers and administration. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death, and the postmortem report is awaited. KMVN officials acknowledged the heightened pressure on gas distribution workers but stated that Rawat's death was not directly linked to work stress.
