Michael Saylor's Strategy has made a significant acquisition of 13,927 Bitcoin for $1 billion between April 6 and 12, raising its total holdings to 780,897 BTC. The purchases were made at an average price of $71,902 per Bitcoin, which is below the company's overall average acquisition cost of $75,577. The total cumulative spending on Bitcoin now amounts to approximately $59.02 billion. This acquisition was entirely funded through the sale of 10 million preferred shares of Strategy's perpetual preferred equity, known as Stretch (STRC). Despite this aggressive accumulation, Strategy faces considerable challenges, reporting $14.46 billion in unrealized losses on its digital assets for the first quarter of 2026. The recent buying spree coincided with a brief rally in the cryptocurrency market, driven by a ceasefire announcement between the US and Iran, which temporarily boosted Bitcoin prices. However, this optimism was short-lived as subsequent developments led to a pullback in Bitcoin's value. Strategy is now just 19,103 BTC away from the 800,000 BTC milestone, a threshold it could cross within two weeks at its current acquisition pace.
