A private bus carrying 45 employees of Om Estate Services Private Limited from Panvel to Goa overturned in the Sukeli Khind section of the Mumbai-Goa Highway (NH-66) around 2:30 AM on Friday, resulting in two deaths and injuries to 38 others. The deceased were identified as Naim Nizam Sheikh, 33, and Neelam Vibhute, 40, a director of the company. The driver, Hemant Patil, has been booked for rash driving after losing control while speeding on a sharp bend. Survivors reported that the driver ignored requests to slow down, leading to the bus toppling over and throwing passengers off their berths. Local villagers assisted in the rescue, breaking windows to help trapped passengers. The injured were taken to various hospitals, with some in critical condition requiring advanced care. Authorities are investigating the incident further, including the possibility of additional charges against the driver if intoxication is confirmed.
