On Thursday, Piyush Goyal (Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, India) held a virtual meeting with Osama Khaled Boodai (Kuwait's Minister of Commerce and Industry) to discuss enhancing bilateral trade relations. Goyal emphasized the importance of collaboration across key sectors, reflecting the historical ties between India and Kuwait, where India was a legal tender until 1961. As Kuwait faces missile and drone attacks following a ceasefire between the US and Iran, its Defence Ministry reported successful interceptions of 28 drones targeting vital installations. Kuwait remains a vital supplier of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to India, fulfilling about 3.5% of India's total energy needs during FY 2024-25, making it the 6th largest crude supplier and 5th largest LPG supplier to India.
