A five-member Commonwealth Sport delegation, led by President Donald Rukare, has commenced a four-day visit to Gujarat, India, to review the preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games scheduled to be hosted in Ahmedabad. This marks the return of the Commonwealth Games to India after two decades, with Ahmedabad awarded hosting rights in November 2022. The delegation's itinerary includes meetings with local officials and inspections of key venues such as Narendra Modi Stadium and Veer Savarkar Sports Complex. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his commitment to providing all necessary facilities to ensure the event's success, highlighting the state's world-class infrastructure. Rukare emphasized the importance of the centenary edition of the Games and expressed enthusiasm for a collaborative approach to make it a celebration of cultural vibrancy. The Chief Minister also accepted an invitation to visit Glasgow, where the next Commonwealth Games will be held in July 2026, to learn from their arrangements.
