The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has issued show-cause notices to more than 400 homeowners in Gurugram, Haryana, for allegedly running commercial establishments from their residential properties. This action follows a survey conducted in several old sectors of Gurugram, where violations of zoning norms were identified. Approximately 40% of the properties were found to be operating as paying guest accommodations, while 10% were running play schools. Other violations included beauty parlours, gyms, tuition centres, and clinics, contributing to traffic congestion and strain on local infrastructure. Sub-divisional engineer Ajmer Singh stated that the defaulters have been given 15 days to respond to the notices, with potential consequences including the cancellation of allotment and occupation certificates under the HSVP Act of 1977. Additionally, the town and country planning department is conducting a survey in licensed colonies, with notices already issued to around 80 property owners.
