He shared this update while arriving at Chennai airport, where he was greeted by reporters. Rajinikanth stated, 'The production team will soon officially announce the release date.' However, when asked about the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections, scheduled for April 23, he chose not to comment, simply saying, 'Vanakkam.' Previously, he had expressed gratitude towards supporters after facing remarks regarding his political aspirations. In December 2020, Rajinikanth had announced plans to start a political party to contest in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections but later canceled these plans, citing health issues. Jailer 2 is an action-comedy sequel to the 2023 hit film Jailer, where Rajinikanth reprises his role as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian. The film also features notable cameos from actors Mohanlal and Shah Rukh Khan.
