The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are emerging as a prominent surfing destination in India, with the Little Andaman Pro 2026 set to take place from April 9-12 at Butler Bay. This national surfing and stand-up paddling championship, organized by the Surfing Federation of India (SFI) and supported by Andaman Tourism, marks a significant milestone in promoting surfing beyond traditional coastal locations. Butler Bay is recognized for its pristine coastline and consistent swell patterns, making it an ideal venue for high-performance surfing. Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director (IP&T), A&N Administration, emphasized the initiative's goal to showcase the region's potential as a surfing hub while promoting sustainable tourism. Arun Vasu, President of SFI, noted that competing in such conditions is crucial for Indian athletes as they prepare for international events. This championship is expected to foster athlete development, engage local communities, and stimulate tourism, highlighting the synergy between sports and travel in the Andaman Islands.
