On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the tragic boat capsizing incident in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, which has resulted in 11 confirmed deaths and four missing individuals. The boat was reportedly carrying 32 people, significantly exceeding its capacity of 15-16, and lacked life jackets, raising serious safety concerns. Mann expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, most of whom were pilgrims from Jagraon and Dugri areas in Ludhiana district, Punjab. He confirmed that 22 pilgrims were successfully rescued from the Yamuna River by emergency personnel. Mann emphasized the need for improved safety measures and stated that he would engage with the Uttar Pradesh administration to ensure such incidents do not recur. The operator of the boat has been arrested as investigations into the negligence continue.
