A former ward councillor in Pataudi, Haryana, India, along with an associate, has been booked for allegedly gang-raping a 33-year-old woman. The incident reportedly took place in February 2024, when the councillor, claiming he could help her with a legal and matrimonial dispute, lured the survivor to a hotel under false pretenses. After the assault, the suspects allegedly blackmailed her, threatening to disclose the incident to her husband and in-laws. Following repeated exploitation, the survivor finally approached the police and filed a complaint on Friday. Authorities are currently gathering evidence, including CCTV footage and call details, to facilitate the suspects' arrest. The case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including gang rape and criminal intimidation.
