This landmark decision resolves a governance dispute that originated in December 2025, when swap fees were redirected away from the decentralized autonomous organization's (DAO) treasury. The proposal, described by founder Stani Kulechov as the most significant in Aave's history, consolidates economic rights under the AAVE token, ensuring that token holders are the primary beneficiaries of the protocol's revenue and brand. Moving forward, Aave plans to adopt a token-centric strategy, targeting a revenue growth from $40 billion to $1 trillion. The proposal also includes a $25 million stablecoin grant and an allocation of 5,000 AAVE tokens (approximately $6.8 million) to support Aave Labs. With a total value locked of around $25 billion, Aave is positioned as a leading player in the DeFi space, generating annual revenues of $140 million alongside other major protocols like Uniswap and Lido.
