In a tragic incident in Dona Paula, Panaji, Goa, Darius Dias (21), the son of businessman Andrew Dias, was arrested for negligent driving after his high-speed Mini Cooper S struck a motorcycle, leading to the death of Diksha Parwadkar, a 23-year-old staff member at the Taj Convention Centre. The accident occurred on Sunday night as Parwadkar was returning home from work, and her colleague, D Arunkumar, was also injured in the crash. Witnesses reported that both victims were thrown over 50 meters from the point of impact, indicating the speed of the vehicle. Police confirmed that the car was a new purchase, and while initial blood alcohol tests for Dias were negative, further tests are pending. Authorities have charged him under section 106 of the BNS (causing death by negligence) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
