On April 6, Mahesh Palkar, the director of secondary and higher secondary education in Maharashtra, issued a circular mandating the adjustment of surplus teachers and non-teaching staff in schools across the state. This directive is in line with the Government Resolution dated March 15, 2024, and aims to align staffing with approved patterns for the 2025–26 academic year. The adjustments will affect recognized private aided, partially aided, and local self-government schools at various levels, including primary, secondary, higher secondary, and teacher training. Authorities are tasked with identifying vacant posts by subject, cadre, and class to facilitate the adjustment of surplus staff. Palkar emphasized that the adjustment process should only occur after the completion of the ongoing academic year examinations, which conclude in April. For surplus Class IV employees, adjustments may occur in nearby schools as vacancies arise, but current posts held by regular Group D employees should remain until the end of the academic year. Officials are required to report on the status of staff adjustments.
