Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on April 2, 2026, that the Indian armed forces are prepared to take unprecedented action against Pakistan if it engages in any misadventure. Speaking at the 'Sainik Samman Sammelan' in Thiruvananthapuram, he recalled the success of Operation Sindoor, which was initiated in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. Singh noted that the operation brought Pakistan to its knees in just 22 minutes, marking it as one of the largest military operations against terrorism in India's history. He emphasized that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, India's approach to national security has fundamentally changed, showcasing a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Singh criticized the previous Congress-led government for its ineffective responses to terror attacks, contrasting it with the decisive actions taken under Modi's leadership, including surgical strikes following the Uri and Pulwama attacks. He asserted that India will not hesitate to act against terrorism both domestically and across borders.
