In fiscal 2025-26, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) achieved remarkable sales of 20.14 million tonnes, reflecting an 11.5% increase from 18.07 million tonnes in the previous fiscal year. The company also set new records in crude steel output, producing 19.43 million tonnes and achieving saleable steel production of 19.176 million tonnes. A significant contributor to this success was SAIL's record supply of 1.25 million tonnes to Indian Railways, alongside an all-time high in long rail production from the Universal Rail Mill. Additionally, SAIL's exports saw a remarkable growth of 162%, reaching 2.9 lakh tonnes as the company expanded into new international markets, including Bhutan. Krishna Kumar Singh, who has extensive experience in various functions within the company, has assumed the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director, while Ashok Kumar Panda has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PSEB).
