Delta College leaders in Frankenlust Township, Michigan, have voted to pursue a contract with Michelle Allmendinger to become the institution's sixth president. The Delta Board of Trustees reached a unanimous decision of 7-0 during a meeting on April 14, selecting Allmendinger from a pool of three finalists. The board plans to negotiate a contract with Allmendinger, with a tentative start date of July 1. Allmendinger currently serves as vice president of student affairs at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. Her background includes a doctorate in higher education administration from Michigan State University, where her dissertation focused on ethics in administration. The selection process involved thorough interviews with faculty, staff, and community members, who provided positive feedback about Allmendinger's leadership qualities. The previous president, Michael Gavin, resigned in September, leading to the appointment of Andrea Ursuy as interim president in January. Delta College has seen a series of leadership changes, with its prior presidents serving varying lengths of time.
