On Monday morning, Chandigarh, India, was thrown into chaos as several schools, including St Stephen’s School, Shivalik Public School, and Ryan International School, along with the mayor’s office and the Union Territory secretariat, received bomb threat emails. These emails, sent around 9:21 AM, warned of explosions at schools at 1:11 PM, the mayor's office at 2:11 PM, and the secretariat at 3:11 PM. The threats also mentioned a grenade attack at Gandhi Bhawan on a university campus later that night. In response, local police, bomb disposal squads, and quick reaction teams were deployed to evacuate schools and secure government buildings. Extensive searches were conducted at all flagged locations, but no suspicious items were discovered. A senior police officer confirmed that all standard operating procedures were being followed and that the threats were being treated seriously, despite the possibility of them being hoaxes. Cybercrime teams are now working to trace the email's origin, analyzing technical details to identify the sender. Past incidents of similar threats in Chandigarh have not resulted in any explosives being found.
